The Pizza Man
DROVES OF WELL-WISHERS dropped by Ward 11 last weekend to give the kids gifts—canned goods, shampoos, toys, and, quite recently, slices of pizza.
I was finishing my chart entries when a pizza man mascot walked into the ward lobby. I found myself extending my arms to initiate an embrace. It's a reflex reaction that I have with mascots and clowns, one that began during my kindergarten days when Susie and Geno of Sustagen visited the school. I have a soft spot for creatures enveloped in layers of cushion.
The mascot rushed toward me and embraced me. The world stood still. I felt all my cares and troubles disappear for a moment.
My superiors told me I looked like a kid. I didn't know they were looking. How embarrassing!

I don't care if my boss sees me; if I see Grimace, I'm going to hug him!
Awww, Grimace!
