Romantic heart disease and muriatic acid
YOU MEET all kinds of people at the E.R.
While doing the routine monitoring at 3 am, I asked the half-naked, 20-something patient lying on the stretcher, "Ano'ng nangyari sa 'yo?"
"Nabunggo po ang motor na sinakyan ko, Dok," he said.
"At ikaw?" I asked the teenage girl who was eavesdropping on our conversation.
"Nag-suicide ako kanina," she answered as a matter-of-factly. "Uminom ako ng muriatic. Ang sakit nga ng lalamunan ko ngayon, eh."
"Bakit mo naman ginawa 'yun?"
"'Yung suicide?"
"Oo."
"I feel alone, eh."
Romantic heart disease and hydrochloric acid just don't go well together.
