Typical
For the longest time, I've been meaning to document a typical day in med school.
For the curious, it's a day spent inside a huge auditorium. There are lectures from 8 to 5, except if the speakers can't make it or if there are lab classes in tow.
Jegar Cantindig is on my left side, and here he is, dozing off again. The day has barely started.
Marvyn Chan is seated next to Jegar. I'd find him alternating between voraciously taking down notes and napping—it's usually the latter.
To my left are the Catangui twins, Miguel and Franco. They usually get sleepy at 10:30 am. Now you know what I'm up against.
Casti Castillo, of course, is listening to the lecture, in his strikingly elegant sitting position.
Beside him are Lee-ann Caro, Ricky Carino, Tin Canlas, and Coy Cabanilla, all of whom are seated on the row in front of mine. They hardly fall asleep because they bring lots of food. I haven't taken good pictures of them—maybe next time.
Finally the lecture is done, and before even the lecturer leaves the hall, some people in class are already holding the mic, shouting their announcements. Nobody is paying attention, though, because it's the day of the NBA Finals Game. Here are the men, streaming the game live through a China phone.
And then it gets really noisy as they cheer for their teams. I'm a Celtics fan, but the most of them are Lakers fanatics.
It will shock you to know that the people looking at Marivic Mapa's laptop aren't actually streaming the game live; they're just looking at the NBA scoreboard.
The Lakers are leading. Maybe it's not so typical, after all.

HAHAHA i love this! :)
Schubs, should I take that to mean that you're going back to med school?
Marivic, nalaman ko lang na play-by-play feed 'yan dahil sa isang innocent comment ni Jay Magbohos. Gotta give you credit for that!
Karen, I watch the video again and again, and I'm amused at how noisy we really are.
